You shared it with your friends and family, got them on board and even attracted your first customers. Your entrepreneurial vision of becoming a household name was becoming a reality but this dream quickly began to decline.

After a few years your brand was no longer attracting new customers - you weren't expanding. You had a small loyal customer base but you couldn't take your business to the next level. People just didn't "get it" no matter how hard you explained yourself. The thought of another negative meeting with distributors or zero sales at an exhibition just made you upset and you're not even sure what's causing these problems...

My main goal as a brand designer is to help you not only attract great customers but also share your story with them through effective design to build long-lasting relationships.

Unlike other amateur designers, I take great care to create research driven logos and visual identities that are far more than just a pretty picture.

Designs that aim to serve you for the lifetime of your brand and effectively communicate your mission to anyone who comes into contact with your products.

Where Did I Start?

As a young, live music loving, teenager I was fascinated by product design myself, specifically band merchandise. Everything from t-shirts to stickers, album artwork and guitar picks caught my attention, I couldn't get enough.

I decided one day to start up my own clothing line to chase this passion. I wanted to print my own t-shirts and learn every single step both on the business and design side. I ran this venture for a few years and whilst the business, unfortunately, didn't last, it did teach me how to use design software and the process of creating, marketing and selling a product. From that moment I was hooked, I wanted more and to get even more hands-on with the process.

I went one step further and became a screen printer straight out of college. I absolutely loved the feeling of holding a finished batch of t-shirts ready to ship and the satisfaction of creating something with my own hands.

However, after many long hard days in a hot print room I began to realise my love for merchandise wasn't actually in printing it myself but what the finished product actually represented. Instead of just loving the process of making, I became more interested in the story behind each design and how effective branding could be used as a framework to make incredible products.

Unfortunately. working as a screen printer, I was constantly surrounded by brands that had bad, lacklustre design plastered all over their products. Clipart logos, ugly colours, broken typefaces and I'd be printing their t-shirts with no way to actually help them. I felt powerless in my position as a screen printer to help these brands see their true potential.

I wanted to work with brands directly to give them an edge in their marketplace, creating design systems to help promote and grow their business.

Moving forward a couple of years and in-between working as a screen printer and setting up my own business I briefly worked at a supermarket. A place where quality branding and packaging was exceptionally important. You could look around and see how every product and piece of packaging was created with a specific purpose in mind.

How would it attract a customer? What made them pick it up off the shelf? How did the design influence their buying decisions?

Being surrounded by hundreds of products every day helped me to see how and why they would fail; what traits made a brand identity effective and how to spot gaps in a marketplace. I analysed every step in the journey from packaging design to the exact space the products sat on the shelf. I spent countless hours considering these questions as I restocked shelves and each day my desire to help other businesses build remarkable brands rapidly grew.

When I began to spend more time thinking about branding than stocking shelves I knew it was time to set up my own design practice. It was time to take matters into my own hands and help businesses in a sector I was extremely passionate about.

The Mission

Since that day I have made it my sole focus, as a brand designer, to help product based businesses solve questions such as:

  • Why is a logo design important? Do I need a new one?
  • Our brand has no cohesive visual identity, what can we do?
  • How can I elevate the perception my customers have of our products
  • Do I need to update my packaging design?
  • Why aren't our customers connecting with our brand story?

By answering these questions I can create design systems that help your business have a strong visual foundation and a more cohesive brand identity. Working together to discover your brand's true potential.
